Where to Find Me
I became a triathlon coach so I could spend all day talking about triathlon. Kidding, not kidding. I also nearly bought a shirt at a race expo that said "Introvert, but willing to talk about triathlon." Definitely not kidding. So I always jump at the chance to have a conversation about my favorite topic — in person, over Zoom, or any way you'll have me.

What I Talk About
I bring a coaching perspective to every conversation — practical, grounded, relatable to the everyday athlete, and focused on the whole person, not just the hours shown in training data. Here are some of the topics I love digging into:
Your First Triathlon, Demystified
What beginners actually need to know — and what they can stop worrying about. From gearing up to choosing a race to getting to the start line and crossing the finish line, just the right amount of information to feel prepared but not overwhelmed.
The Many Roles That Training Serves
We know we’re developing fitness through training, but we don’t often think about the other layers that are developed (or ignored, or negatively reinforced) each and every training session: technique/form, execution skills, and mental skills.
Coaching the Middle and Back of the Pack
Why everyone deserves a coach, and how every athlete can benefit from coaching. What drives a truly individualized training plan, why it maximizes performance, and what it looks like to build a season that works around a job and a family and a life.
A Deep Dive into Unlocking Triathlon
Unlocking Triathlon isn’t a superficial prescription on how to complete a triathlon - it offers in-depth discussions on a vast range of topics: how to pick a race; swim, bike, and run skills; how fitness is built and how training is structured; how to approach and manage every aspect and phase of training; and how to prepare for and execute your race.
Fueling for Endurance Athletes
What to eat, when, and how to manage the logistics of eating and drinking while swimming, biking, and running. Practical, no-nonsense fueling guidance.
The Mental Game of Endurance Training
Motivation dips, rough workouts, training disruptions, and the taper crazies. How to get through months of training with your sanity intact.
Let's Make Some Plans
I’m available for podcasts, panels, clinics, and events — virtual or in person. I especially love conversations about triathlon training, particularly for beginners, from the first day of training to the moment you cross the finish line and everything in between. And I’m all about making triathlon feel accessible to new audiences — my goal is to be the triathlon equivalent of a drug dealer, and get loads and loads of people hooked on the sport. Not even close to kidding.
I’m actively booking podcast conversations for 2027 – reach out and we’ll make some plans. alison@unlockingtriathlon.com.
